3 die, 5-year-old injured after car rams truck on EPE
Noida: Three people, including a couple, died after their car rammed into a truck from behind on the EPE early on Monday. The couple’s five-year-old daughter, who was also in the car, survived the collision and is undergoing treatment at a Greater Noida hospital.Police said that the family were travelling in a WagonR along with a friend from Rajasthan to Varanasi. Around 2.40am, the vehicle was heading towards Ghaziabad from the Dadri cut when it collided with a truck ahead of it near the Shahpur underpass.Cops received information about the crash from passersby and reached the spot soon after. All four people in the car were brought to a nearby hospital. Vivek, his wife Mamta and their friend Ram were declared dead on arrival. Vivek and Mamta’s five-year-old daughter, who was also injured, survived and is out of danger, doctors said.Police said the victims’ families were informed and post-mortem examinations were initiated. The car and truck involved in the crash have also been taken into police custody. The exact cause of the collision has not been determined yet, but preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the car may have dozed off at the wheel, police added.An FIR was registered under BNS sections 106(1) (death due to negligence) and 281 (rash or negligent driving/riding), and efforts are underway to trace the driver of the truck, who fled the spot, police said.
